CLEP Testing

CLEP exams are 90-minute timed exams administered on the computer in Union's Testing Center. However, please allow an additional 15-20 minutes to complete the on-line tutorial prior to the start of the exam. Scores will be revealed immediately upon completion of the exam.

Any exam listed in the CLEP Testing Options may be taken on any of the scheduled exam dates, however test-takers must choose only one CLEP exam to take per testing date.

There is a mandatory 3-month waiting period to retake an exam if a passing score is not received. If an exam is retaken within that time period the test taker's scores will be cancelled by CLEP.

CLEP exam changes (beginning fall 2024)

Union will no longer accept the following CLEP exams by these titles or in these areas:

• American Literature
• Biology
• English Literature
• Spanish
• French

Union Students taking these tests before 8/20/24, will be awarded credit with the appropriate test scores.

Registration Deadline

The deadline to register for a CLEP exam is midnight two days prior to the testing date. A CLEP exam cannot be registered for either the day before an exam or the day of the exam.

CLEP Cancellation Requests

Cancellation requests are to be sent by email to the Director of Testing for the desired campus (see notes in each section below). Exam cancellations must be received by 4:30 p.m. two working days prior to a scheduled exam in order to avoid paying the Union Testing Fee.
