Union鈥檚 music department to give four concerts
October 28, 2024 - Union University鈥檚 Department of Music will present four concerts over the next two weeks that are free and open to the public. The Union Symphony Orchestra concert will be Oct. 29, with the University Singers concert on Oct. 31. Union students sharpen preaching skills in partnership with area churches
October 25, 2024 - Gaining valuable preaching experience, Union University students participated in a special preaching opportunity hosted by the Dyer Baptist Association Oct. 6, when six churches volunteered to open their pulpits to students from the School of Theology and Missions. Union gives back to community during 22nd annual Campus and Community Day
October 23, 2024 - As a native of Jackson, Tennessee, Union University junior Mackenzie Cooper loves her community. She took advantage of the university鈥檚 annual Campus and Community: A Day of Remembrance and Service on Oct. 23 to help pick up trash at the city鈥檚 Cypress Grove Nature Park as a way of showing her appreciation. 鈥淛ackson gives a lot to Union University, and it鈥檚 very important to give back,鈥 Cooper said. 鈥淎s Christians, we are called to give back to our community and to support others. Yale historian explores British imperialism through Bruce鈥檚 life
October 17, 2024 - Odd Arne Westad said that James Bruce, the eighth Earl of Elgin, was an imperial troubleshooter and presented a view of British imperialism through Bruce鈥檚 life as he served in Jamaica, Canada, China and India. 鈥淛ames Bruce, who served all across the globe, lived at the center of this time period when the concepts of empire went from the 鈥榮mash and grab鈥 version of empire 鈥 to the 鈥榠deology and justification鈥 time period,鈥 Westad said. October 17, 2024 - Union University鈥檚 annual Homecoming celebration will take place on campus Oct. 21-26, with a full slate of activities for current students and alumni. Among the week鈥檚 key events:
- A community prayer breakfast Oct. 25 from 6:45-7:45 a.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center. The breakfast is free, but reservations are required.
- The annual Buster Bowl football game, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Liberty Tech High School, with a pregame tailgate party beginning at 6 p.m.
